We transformed this dated travertine-and-cherrywood interior into a bright, sophisticated transitional retreat designed to celebrate the home’s exceptional ocean views. By maximizing the ceiling height and introducing three expansive 12-foot sliding doors across the rear of the house, we created a more open floor plan with a seamless connection to the outdoors.

The expanded kitchen combines warm white oak cabinetry with Calacatta and Bianco Violeta marble, accented by a tailored mix of black and brass fixtures. Thoughtful cabinetry solutions—including a dedicated smoothie station, fully paneled appliances, warming drawers, and concealed storage—allow the kitchen to remain beautiful while supporting the clients’ everyday routines.

A former patio was enclosed and transformed into an intimate dining and wine room, adding both character and valuable living space. Custom wall paneling was also used to conceal hallway doors, creating a clean and uninterrupted architectural detail.

Our involvement continued through the furnishing and decorating of the home, layering in furniture, lighting, textiles, artwork, and accessories that complement the architecture and reflect the clients’ personal style. The result is an elegant, highly functional home that feels cohesive, inviting, and entirely tailored to the way the clients live.

“Susan was so great to work with on our total remodel in Dana Point, CA. She worked flawlessly with the contractor and me from creating a brand new floor plan, to choosing finishes, and finally the furniture and fixtures. She is very knowledgable with not just design but architecture which was helpful so many times during the long process. I would definitely not only recommend her but would love to work with her myself on a new project!”
